Honours of War Prussian v Austrian

I seem to remember a while ago thinking "No new rule sets!". This 'rule' has of course been totally ignored hence trying out the Osprey "Honours of War" 7YW rules, largely as Dave has an Austrian army he wanted to use and I had my 1806 Prussian army for Blucher that could (reasonably) stand in for a 7YW Prussian army.

The Prussians were on the defensive tasked with holding a town until sufficient reinforcements arrived:

Austrians appear in the distance:

Their advance guard leads:

The first of the Prussian reinforcements appear:

The Austrians prepare to assault the town:

Prussian cavalry decide to sweep forward and try to engage the Austrians before more troops can come up:

The Prussians drive off the initial Austrian attack on the town:

On the right the Prussians have a considerable numerical advantage:

They surge forwards but more Austrian infantry are arriving:

Both sides take losses. On the left of the town Austrian cavalry bypass the town with little opposition:

Prussian infantry take position to hold the ground:

At this point we called it a day, the Prussians had defended the town and driven back a lot of the Austrian force. The Austrians had suffered from arriving over only three bridges making it very difficult for them to get their infantry into action in sufficient numbers to really threaten the town.

The rules seemed quite fun and I've now invested in a set so I suspect we will be playing again at some point in the future!
