Rommel Juno Beach Game 1

Andy and I played our re-fight of Juno Beach last night with me taking the Canadians and Andy the Germans.

The Canadians prepare to land:

As I'd thought most likely Andy deployed the 716th Infantry in a few groups mostly concentrated in rough terrain leaving gaps for the Canadians to move through:

Following my plan the Canadians advance as quickly as possible bypassing the German defenders and securing the towns and first objective:

One battalion of Germans threatened the Canadian supply source and had to be eliminated:

Being somewhat isolated the position was quickly taken:

The end of the initial Canadian turn results in 5 towns being taken together with the first objective. The 716th Infantry defending have been isolated though the forward Canadian tanks have also been isolated:

At this point something occurred that I had not anticipated: the German 352nd Infantry counter-attacked!

The attack went badly for the Germans:

There was now little between the Canadians and their final two objectives. It would be a while before the 21st Panzer Division arrived:

At this point Andy conceded defeat, concentrating the 716th Infantry had allowed the Canadians to bypass them while the counter-attack by the 352nd was disastrous.

As it was still quite early we decided to play again with the roles reversed, Andy taking the Canadians and me the Germans.
